Dastardly Debt Part 1

February 9, 2012

If nothing else, our modern media is a case study in ADHD tendencies, rushing from scandalous story to impending disaster before the people have a chance to comprehend what has been presented. Anyone with an eighth-grade mathematics comprehension level know that A-B=C, and if B is larger than A, you have a problem.

Apparently, nobody in the media, or in DC for that matter, gives a damn. One side is busy saying ‘just raise taxes on the rich to pay for it’, the other side is saying  ‘just cut spending and it’ll all go away’. We’re well past the point where either of those would work. What we need to do, is cut spending across the board- yes, that includes ‘entitlements’ and defense spending- and raise taxes. Will it be painful? Yes. I won’t lie to you, life is going to suck for quite a long time. But it’s either fix it now, or we sputter into nothingness in thirty or forty years. Hell, we can’t afford our current spending for another ten. Raise taxes three percent across the board – income tax, corporate tax, investment tax, everything. Then take a hedge trimmer to the executive branch bureaucracies. Here’s a list of offices within departments that can be either eliminated completely, or slashed and their duties absorbed into something that remains:
